Practice Type: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Specialises In: Abuse, OCD, PTSD
After completing her post-graduate diploma in counselling, Utsa went on to do a Masters in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). In recent years she has also undertaken a specialised form of trauma therapy training known as Eye Movement De-sensitisation and Re-processing (EMDR). When working with clients, Utsa has learnt that therapy works best when clients can relate to it and understands how it works. Therapy should not be a mystery but a means where the client can grow and take away tools which will be available in the future should they be needed. So, in line with this belief, she uses CBT when needed, or takes a more integrative approach if she feels that it would benefit her clients more. In a career spanning over two decades, she has worked with various forms of anxiety disorders such as OCD, panic and agoraphobia, excessive worry, PTSD and social anxiety. She has worked with clients struggling with depression, after effects of sexual trauma, rape and childhood sexual abuse, as well as various forms of addiction. Clients have also approached her to work on personal issues such as grief, relationship problems and life transitions.
